Let’s Put Some Good Into The World

There is so much angst about transpeople at the moment. Trans folks and those who know us and who care about us are deeply hurt at the hateful attitudes and comments which are directed at us. We are fearful of our safety and our wellbeing and even our survival. The media and some well placed anti-trans groups have whipped up concerns about safety of women and girls and I think that quite a few people now regard trans folks as being a threat or a danger.

Here you will find some resources for demystifing the issues surrounding trans people. I hope they are helpful. If you, or someone you care about is trans or is questionning their gender, I hope you will find it life-affirming.

Beyond X and Y

The biology of sex, sexual characteristics and gender is much more complicated (and much more beautiful) than some people would have you believe. There’s a tired and inaccurate mantra which says if you have XX chromosomes you are female and if you have XY chromosomes you are male. Here’s a video which explains more of the real biology of sex.
